A Typical Tuesday
What We Offer
Form 2 (4th-6th grades)
Our fourth through sixth grade students experience all classes together. The Grove offers literature and writing, science (general science, nature lore, nature study and special studies), geography, book of centuries, Shakespeare, drawing and PE. Students may also choose to participate in additional classes after lunch which may include handicrafts, spiritual formation and foreign language.
Form 1 (1st-3rd grades)
Our first through third grade students experience all classes together. The Grove offers literature and writing, science (natural history and nature study), geography, drawing and PE. Students may also choose to particpate in additional classes after lunch.
Preform (K5 students)
The Preform class is a gentle K-5 class where the children are given opportunities to explore, observe, and learn in a collective atmosphere. These students are still considered preform as Charlotte Mason did not believe in formal lessons before the age of six. Therefore, this class does not focus on academic rigor, but space to put their hearts and minds on lovely ideas, truths, and beauty in God’s creation.
Little Shoots (K3 and K4 students)
This class is a precious space to see the wonder of the world through a young child’s eyes. We long for these little ones to be loved deeply and shown that though they are young, they are beloved children and a cherished part of The Grove. Our vision in creating this space for these younger students is to carve out a special place to hear beautiful ideas, read living books, and be seen and loved as they go. We believe deeply in the value of habits in the life of a child at home and at The Grove. This class allows the children to cultivate the habits of attention, routines, and observation through spending time in nature, listening to books read aloud, and so many other features of this space.
Babes (2 and under)
These tiniest members of The Grove are absolutely loved while their siblings and mamas are busy learning and teaching.
Mamas
Building a community of mamas is a top priority for The Grove. Throughout the year, mamas enjoy a yearly retreat, mama nights out, book club, mentor night and more. On Tuesdays, all mamas are engaged in either teaching or helping roles.
Fathers
We know the value of Grove fathers is priceless and we want to celebrate, encourage, and make space for them to spur one another on in fatherhood. The Grove dads have the opportunity to join in a backyard fire pit hang each month, as it suits their family.
Morning Collective
For the first few minutes each Tuesday, all Grove students and mamas come together to remind themselves what is true about God and what is true about ourselves. During this time we sing and memorize beautiful things together.
